U.S. News ranks Carthage high for value and teaching
In its newest college rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranks Carthage No. 7 in Best Undergraduate Teaching and No. 17 in Best Value Schools among regional Midwest universities.
The value category considers a school’s academic quality and the net cost of attendance for an out-of-state student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. Carthage has made a commitment to affordability, awarding more than $20 million in scholarships and grants each year.
The teaching category recognizes colleges that prioritize teaching over graduate-level research. At Carthage, 100% of classes are taught by faculty — not teaching assistants.
Regionally, Carthage also ranked No. 15 in Best Colleges for Veterans. That’s a testament to the College’s participation in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members pay for their degrees.
Overall, Carthage ranked No. 32 overall for Regional Universities in the Midwest. The 2024 U.S. News rankings were released in September 2023.
